Outline For This Preface

In The name of God, The Shaikh, And The Disciple - back to outline

Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Rahim - In the name of God, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

It gives me immense happiness indeed to write this preface, in the name of the Rasool, the Kuthub, and His Holiness, Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (may God be pleased with Him).

"Guru Man" Is One of The Earliest Teachings By His Holiness - back to outline

This book, "The Pearl of Wisdom", is the English translation of one of the earliest works, "Guru Mani", by His Holiness, Guru Bawa (may God be pleased with Him)

Abdul Cader Is Eminently Qualified To Translate This Book - back to outline

My friend, Abdul Cader, who under divine inspiration undertook this onerous task is one who, I feel, is eminently suitable for the translation of this highly mystical book into English.

Abdul Cader has an expansive knowledge of both English and Tamil languages, having had his secondary education at the prestigious Jaffna Hindu College, in Sri Lanka, and subsequently his university education at Columbia University in New York City, in America.

The Essence of "Guru Mani"  Is Found In "The Pearl of Wisdom"
                                                                                                                                  - back to outline
Besides these mundane qualifications, Abdul Cader has been a close devotee of His Holiness for many years, and has sat at the feet of the Guru, his Shaikh, to listen to His discourses.

It is Abdul Cader's spiritual involvement with his Shaikh that makes him most suitable for this work.  Therefore, this translation is a clear rendition of the original Tamil version by His Holiness.  And in this way, the essence of "Guru Mani" has been brought out in this book, "The Pearl of Wisdom".

This book is a symbol of the translator's love, dedication, devotion, and reverence towards his Shaikh, Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (may God be pleased with Him).

Closing Prayer - back to outline

May Allah's Grace, and Bawa Muhaiyaddeen's blessings, be upon Abdul Cader and his family for rendering this translation for those who are in the pursuit of truth.
